I was privileged to grow up on a family farm in rural Michigan and attended a one room school until 7th grade. I obtained my Elementary Education degree in 1970 from Central Michigan University. After teaching for 27 years, my husband and I traveled the U.S. and then settled in Green Valley. I have been active in the Clay Studio of Green Valley since 2006, where I had my first experience with clay. I have tried many aspects of ceramic art but my main focus has been in handbuilding. My pieces are handbuilt, bisque fired, hand glazed and then fired again. My work varies from wall hangings, to sculptures of dogs and rabbits, to planters. Many of my pieces feature animals with a dose of whimsy and folk art style.
My work has been shown at the Mission in Tumacacori, Untitled Gallery in Tucson, Tubac Center for the Arts and sold in the Tucson Museum of Art gift shop.
