Barbara Burzillo
I left New York City for New Mexico after falling in love with the Southwest. Armed with more available time and a list of "used to's" and "want to's," I began exploring many creative interests, rediscovering my artistic abilities. I enjoyed a career in advertising before becoming a full-time artist.
I have been creating for as long as I can remember; I am a self-taught artist who works primarily in abstract, figurative bronze sculpture and painting. I revel in dramatic gestures and bright palettes. My work frequently includes elongated, faceless, fantastical figures. My sculptures and images convey a dynamic sense of movement. I rely on the medium as an active participant in determining the subject of her art. I create art because it is a beautiful way to communicate at the deepest level with those around me. Ultimately, all that matters is that my art speaks to your soul.
